Hey, if you guys don't mind I'd like to have a thread describing my Gumball Rally.
Our plan is to hold a Cannonball-like event in late April of 2014. The route we have chosen is similar (in some places) to the route taken on the first Cannonball; which was held ten years before our Gumball. The event is open to all scooters and motorcycles.
The Scooter Gumball Rally will be organized as a time/distance event where participants receive a score for each day’s performance. The scoring system is designed to reward rider endurance and scooter dependability -not speed! Riders are encouraged to enjoy whatever level of safe competition interests them. Tourists are more than welcome. The Scooter Gumball Rally is not a race!
What can you expect from this rally? I can guarantee that you will:
See some stunning scenery.
Make some fantastic new friends.
Be amazed at how people all across the country will be interested in what you're doing.... and tell you you're nuts (the correct response is "no, we're Gumballs").
Be challenged by the distance and the weather.
Experience some type of mental cleansing out on a lonely highway (I know, it’s corny… but just you wait!).
Get sunburned if you don’t wear sunblock.
Learn more about your scooter than you thought you could.
Never want the ride to end.
The event will take ten days, visit 15 States, and cover 3,560 miles.
Details about registration, fees, the route, the timeline, and lodging are being hammered out by my crack staff of Gumballs. ;D
You can keep in the loop at our website scootergumballrally.com
Or our Facebook page www.facebook.com/ScooterGumball
We just posted a rough map of the route today! If you have any questions, post up!
